Dear Year 6 Parents and Carers,

A warm welcome back to you all and Happy New Year! We hope that you all enjoyed a happy and restful Christmas break and that your children are looking forward to another exciting fun-filled term as well as the inevitable build up to SATs!

This term’s topic is called ‘Under Attack’ and is based on the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. Some of the other subjects will be taught following elements of this theme. The science topic this half term is: The Circulatory System. Please see topic web for further details.

This half term the children will be set a weekly English skills homework which will begin on 9th January and is now set on a Wednesday to be handed in on Mondays. This will be completed in their homework book. The children will continue to be set a weekly spelling list (which will now be on Wednesdays) reflecting the focus of that week’s spelling lessons and be tested the following Monday. Reading books and reading records will continue to go home each week. Children will also be expected to do mental maths homework and this half term’s facts will be stuck into their homework book for the children to practise. They will be tested on Mondays.

Please note that all children should have their own P.E. kit in school. Long hair should be tied back and earrings removed for health and safety reasons. Please ensure that all items of clothing are labelled with your child’s name, thank you. Class 6’s PE lessons are on Tuesdays and Fridays.

I am really looking forward to a happy and successful term in Class 6 and hope the children are too! If at any time you have any concerns or issues you would like to discuss, then please come and see me as soon as possible; after school is generally the best time.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Tracy Wolfe
