Welcome to Year 3!
Class teachers: Mrs Charlotte Mezits (Monday-Thursday am) and Dr Alessandra Lombardi (Thursday pm-Friday)
I hope all of you Year 3 children are well and busy doing some nice things.
Deadly 60 is back on. I watched the episode about Borneo on iplayer. It talks about palm oil, a conversation we have had. Do have a watch.
Hello Year 3 children! I hope everyone is well. I have noticed that David Walliams is reading a selection of his books.
I have also seen that there are a lot of audio books being made available for children so you can enjoy a story.
For those of you who are still practising your phonics try phonics play for some games to help you with your reading.
You could also log onto the Oxford Owl website to gain access to free ebooks. There is a huge range of books many of which are accompanied by activities. You just need to log in with an email address, create a password, confirm through an email and then you can get started.
Hello everyone from Mrs Lombardi too!
I've found this for my son and I thought you might like the challenge too. Take a photo of each of your creations and prepare a powerpoint or print them and stick them in a scrap book. It would be lovely to see them when we are back to school.
Bonjour la Classe! Here are some activities you can try in the style of your pick 'n mix homework. Soon I will also add some games and websites which will help you practise your French. Bonne chance! M.me Lombardi
The home learning grid (click on the document Primary language KS2 French)
This is your home learning grid, one page with a number of activities for all stages of language learning. For each language learning stage, we have selected five topics from the Scheme of Work, and within each topic we have put three buttons:
A is for Activity – this is the QR code sheet on which the children will have six QR codes they can scan and play games using a phone or tablet
K is for Knowledge Organiser – now that the audio has been added, the children can now practise the key vocabulary and phonics for their topic and share it with their family at home
V is for Video – this is a native speaker video that the children can watch, and join in with any activities
Use 'quizlet' to revise the vocabulary you have learnt so far in a fun way. Click on the links below and they will take you to the topics.
Prior Year (2017-18) Information
Happy New Year and welcome to the year of the dog!
We hope that you all had fabulous Christmas holidays, whether it was meeting up with friends and family or just spending time at home.
Our topic this half term is called ‘Does the Earth shake, rattle and roll?’ Watch this space for photographs of us carrying out work and activities relating to this and any information about our topic.
On the last day before our half term holiday we had a 'dress up day' to raise money for our charity S.T.A.G.G set up by a group of Year 6 children. The money that we raised goes to Woodgreen Animal Shelter and W.W.F.
Towards the end of the first half of the Spring term, we have been looking at geometry. We carried out a Mastery activity which involved us making some 2d shapes on a geoboard and then describing them using vocabulary such as: perpendicular, parallel, obtuse, acute and right angles.
In Maths we have been looking at place value and what each digit in a number is worth. We found an excellent game that we greatly enjoyed playing that you might enjoy playing at home - all you need is a dice.
Here are some photos of our emotions whilst playing this game!
We have been looking at the work of different artists and have investigated mixing colours, printing with our fingers to create an impressionist style and creating swirls with brushes and fingers to create a Van Gogh style picture. We are really happy with our results.
